CROATIAN HAKA

On Thursday, 21 October, we had a very interesting English class. This unit was about new Zealand's culture.

We learned things like haka, moko and koru. Boys learned a traditional Maori war dance called haka. The most famous haka is Ka Mate which was performed by the boys in our class. Since they were a little bit shy, girls made koru masks for them. Kowhaiwhai is a traditional Maori painted art. Koru design, which is one of the Kowhaiwhai designs, symbolizes a new life and peace. Maori people use Kawhaiwhai to decorate ceilings or walls in their houses. You can also see it on canoes or other wooden structures, while traditional colours are red, black and white. Girls in our class made traditional Maori tattoos, called moko, on their arms or faces. Having a moko is like having a biography on your face. In the past, receiving moko, marked the transition from childhood to adulthood. This was definitely a really interesting English class and we learned a lot about New Zealand's culture. We can't wait to do something like this again.

BREAD DAY 2021

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES 2021
